Isolation is an intentional and common tactic of spiritual abuse situations. Over time, members are often discouraged from interacting with people, even family and close friends, who are outside of the church. If you leave, you risk losing your entire support system, your faith family, your friends, and your children’s friends. If you have already left a religious cult or a high-control church, you are painfully aware of the loss.
The Open Table exists to reclaim community in the Knoxville/Maryville area for those who have left high-control churches and religious cults. We meet regularly to encourage one another and to provide community among people who have been through different circumstances but common experiences of spiritual abuse. Wherever you are along your healing journey, you are welcome to participate.
Our next meeting will be this Sunday afternoon, September 21, 2025.
To maintain security and confidentiality, the time and location of The Open Table meetings will not be made public. This meeting is by invitation or referral only. If you have left a local high-control religious group and would like to attend, you may message me on Facebook or leave your contact info on the "Questions?" page of this website, and someone will reach out to you.
